- What is Nemaslug?
Nemaslug is a unique natural product, containing microscopic worms (nematodes) which seek out slugs, stop them feeding on plants within 3 days and then kill them. - Why use Nemaslug?
Nemaslug is an effective alternative to chemicals. It is safe to use and harmless to children, pets, birds and wildlife. - Will Nemaslug kill snails?
Nemaslug may kill snails and some customers do report success when using for snails. However, because nematodes are active in the soil and snails spend most of their lifecycle on plants and foliage they are unlikely to come into contact with the nematodes. I would not recommend using Nemaslug for snail control. - Is it cost effective?
A standard pack treats 40m² and will provide at least six weeks control of slugs. This works out at less than 24p per day to protect the garden. - What will Nemaslug control?
Nemaslug will control all common species of small to medium sized slugs up to 8 cm (approx 3”). To catch larger slugs treat with Nemaslug when they are young. The most common species spend much of their time underground and can travel under the soil surface, attacking roots and avoiding pellets. - How long does Nemaslug work?
One application of Nemaslug will provide at least six weeks control of slugs. This is generally enough time for seedlings and bedding plants to get well established. Nemaslug is rainproof and so works exactly when protection is needed. - Are there any special precautions?
Nemaslug might affect water snails. To avoid harming water snails keep the treatment 15 cm (6”) away from ponds. Do not use if the area you want to treat is waterlogged. Nemaslug's effect may be reduced in very heavy wet clay soils. - Is Nemaslug harmful to anything else?
Nemaslug is harmless to other animals, birds, plants and children. - How do I apply Nemaslug?
Nemaslug is applied very simply using a watering can with a coarse rose. Full instructions are on the pack. Application of the standard pack normally takes 20 minutes. It is important to use the correct amounts of water during application since this ensures the nematodes are washed into the soil to give an even application. - Can I apply nematodes using a garden hose?
Yes, Please Click to download instructions (pdf). - Are any special conditions required?
Nemaslug should be applied to moist soil. If applying in hot weather it is better to wait till later in the day when the soil won't dry out so quickly and the nematodes will have a chance to migrate underground during the night. The soil temperature should be 5°C (40°F) or over. - What happens if the temperature falls after I have used Nemaslug?
The control may be a little slower. However, the nematodes are capable of surviving even the odd frost. - Will Nemaslug be washed out of the soil during prolonged wet weather?
Unlike some other control measures, Nemaslug continues to work well during wet weather — exactly when you need protection against slugs. - How long does Nemaslug keep before use?
Nemaslug will keep up to the expiry date, clearly marked on each sealed pack, when kept refrigerated. However, it is always best to use this living product as soon as possible after receipt. - Can I store Nemaslug once it is mixed with water?
No, always apply the mixed solution immediately. - What should I do with any surplus solution?
You can't over apply Nemaslug but, if you have any over after applying at the correct rate, treat adjacent beds and pots. This will prevent slugs from moving in from these areas to feed off your tender plants. - Can I use slug pellets with Nemaslug?
Yes, slug pellets do not affect Nemaslug. - Can I use chemicals in conjunction with Biological Control?
Generally speaking, no. If you intend to use chemical control you should contact your supplier for specific advice. - Is there a benefit from applying Nemaslug in the Autumn?
If you apply Nemaslug in early Autumn you will reduce the number of slugs laying eggs and consequently reduce the new population emerging in the Spring. - When is the best time to apply Nemaslug to protect my potatoes against slugs?
We have found that, in the commercial sector, best results are obtained by applying Nemaslug 6 to 7 weeks before harvest. This is when the tubers are most vulnerable to slug attack. - Can I water Nemaslug directly on to plants?
Nematodes live in the soil so. if you can, it is better to apply to the soil. However, if because of dense foliage this is impossible, after application wash them off into the soil with some extra water. - Can I eat produce that has been treated with Nemaslug?
Yes, just wash your fruit and vegetables in the normal way.

Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer is a natural product containing microscopic worms (nematodes) which seek out and kill chafer grubs. - Why use Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer?
Use Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer to deal with a chafer grub infestation, without any of the precautions associated with chemical use, such as excluding children and pets from treated areas until dry or the question of what to do about grazing pets, such as rabbits and guinea pigs. - When can I apply Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer?
Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer should be applied when the soil temperature is at a minimum of 12°C (54°F) and the chafer grubs are at the correct stage in their lifecycle. This will be August and September. Do not apply too late, since the grubs start to move down deeper in the soil and become inactive until the following spring. However, as this move downwards is temperature dependent, in some years it may still be all right to apply later. As long as the grubs are near the surface and the soil temperature is above 12°C (54°F) nematodes can still be applied. - Are any special conditions required?

If you have what you think is a serious infestation, you should consider treating twice a year in Spring and in Autumn. If you are less concerned and just want to keep a minor problem at bay then one Autumn treatment should be adequate. - Where should I apply Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer?
Anywhere, indoors or outside, on to soil or compost that contains the larvae. It is now considered that total eradication is not practicable since vine weevils are established throughout the countryside. It is therefore best to work out the area that you need to treat, to protect those plants that you do not want to lose. Primulas, fuchsias, begonias, most evergreen plants and all plants in pots are particularly at risk. - How do I apply Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer?
Simply as a drench. All you need is a bucket, a stirrer, an ordinary garden watering can and water. The standard pack takes approximately 20 minutes to apply. - How long can I keep Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer?

Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer will kill larvae present in the area and protect against further larvae damage for up to four weeks. - Will the nematodes kill anything else?
Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer contains naturally occurring nematodes which target vine weevil larvae. The nematodes will never become pests themselves. - What do the Vine weevil eggs look like?
Vine weevil eggs are white when laid, approximately 0.8 mm in diameter and round. They rapidly turn brown as they mature. The eggs are often confused with slow release fertilizer pellets, such as ozmacote, when found in common compost mixes. The ozmacote pellets are 2 mm in diameter, release liquid fertilizer when squashed and range in colour from yellow to dark brown. - What can I do to control adult vine weevil?
Finding and destroying the adults is difficult in practical terms since they are nocturnal and play dead once disturbed. Methods of control include hand collection at night, setting out pieces of debris that the adults may find attractive as a hiding place during the day and some systemic insecticides. - How much damage is caused to plants by the circular notches that the adult vine weevils make around the leaves?
The circular notches, whilst unsightly, are unlikely to kill the plants. However, they are a timely reminder that there is a vine weevil problem that will need to be dealt with when they are at the larvae stage. - Can I use chemicals in conjunction with Biological Control?
Generally speaking, no. If you intend to use chemical control you should contact your supplier for specific advice. - Can I water Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer directly on to plants?
Nematodes live in the soil so, if you can, it is better to apply to the soil. However, if because of dense foliage this is impossible, after application wash them off into the soil with some extra water. - Can I eat produce that has been treated with Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer?
